Nose: Red apple, honey, dark malt, lemon candy, ripe orange, woodiness of new oak, mild apricot, Snyder's honey mustard onion, tips of dried bonito(katsuobushi), very faint anise-like spice, Vitamin B tablets.
Taste: medium-bodied, slightly spicy, lemon candy, honey, apple, black tea, ginger powder finishing with driness and ginger powder notes.
Overall: A very unique bottle with a gap between the fruity apple-like aroma, the sweetness of candy, and the ginger powder-like aftertaste.
Komei Shimono
Born in 1983. Born in Toyamacity, Toyama prefecture, Japan.
When he was a 20-year-old student, he discovered whisky at a bar in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture. His hobby led him to start "Mail order single malt shop Maltoyama in 2013. He has been selling mainly core single malts and private bottles ever since.
As of 2022, he has selected over 100 casks.
